As a part of Catholic Schools Week-Dividends for Life, we recognize a parent who has demonstrated excellence in representing the school, its purpose, and its students. Catholic Schools Week 2010 features our Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO) President, Mr. Francis Taimanao. Aside from being the school’s PTO President, Mr. Taimanao works for the Department of Public Safety – Highway Safety Office. Mr. Taimanao is the father of four children. His wife, Mrs. Frances Taimanao is currently the 6th grade teacher here at Mount Carmel School. When Mr. Taimanao was asked why he accepted the nomination as PTO President he answered by saying, “Accepting the nomination as President was based on my belief that the education of our children is of paramount importance. My acceptance was also driven by the thought of how we as parents can contribute to the success of student learning and advancement.”

When asked what his thought was on the essence of the school he answered, “I believe the essence of the school derives from the values and faith of the students, teachers and parents all working together.” Mr. Taimanao also shared that the value of Catholic education is the ability to integrate academic curriculum to achieve educational standards, and in the same token, strengthen our Catholic belief in God among our students. Lastly, when asked what were his thoughts on the theme, “Catholic Schools Week-Dividends for Life” he answered by saying, “My thoughts on the theme refers us to the basics. In my own words, it is more of a reward for personally achieving your individual goals in Life.” Mr. Taimanao is a great role model for our students and for the rest of our school community, and Mount Carmel School forever grateful for his service.
